Who we are

ScotSTAR (Scottish Specialist Transport and Retrieval) is a division of the Scottish Ambulance Service that exists to provide a national service for the safe and effecctive transport and retrieval of  neonates, children and adults in Scotland.The Scottish Neonatal Transport Service is part of ScotSTAR and is a specialist service dedicated to the safe transport of unwell newborn infants throughout Scotland and on occassion when Scottish babies require transferred further afield.

The service is run by a team of neonatal consultants, advanced neonatal nurse practitioners, transport fellows (doctors), specialist neonatal transport nurses and ambulance staff. Each journey is staffed according to the needs of the baby.

Where we are

This national service is divided into three regional teams:

North

The North team is staffed from base  Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  This team covers North Tayside, Grampian, the Highlands, Orkney and Shetland.

South East

Based at the Simpson Centre for Reproductive Health in Edinburgh, this team covers the South Tayside, Lothians, Fife and the Borders.

West 

Based at ScotSTAR hanger at Glasgow airport  This team covers Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, Forth Valley, Lanarkshire, Argyll and the Western Isles.
