Access
Road
From the M8 JCT 3 follow to exit marked xxx and hospital. Road loops down onto another main road.
First left then right across traffic, hospital is on left. At bottom of hill turn left to maternity car park, entrance barrier in use.
Maternity entrance is in the far corner. Labour ward is immediately to left, lift to SCBU is straight back.
The Special Care Baby Unit is situated on the first floor, from lift turn left then left and left again.
The Unit has a swipe card access and bell alert system.
Service
This is a special care nursery with 10 cots including 2 high dependency cots, providing special care for babies over 32 weeks gestation not requiring mechanical respiratory support or TPN.
Initial stabilisation including short term ventilation and/or CPAP in the short term and pending transfer but longer term care would require further discussion.
Staffing
- Consultant paediatricans provide 24/7 non resident cover for both SCBU and Paediatrics.
- There are ANNPs and registrars covering the middle tier rota.
- The nursing team is a mixture of midwives, RSCNs and nursery nurses providing a team of 3 staff per shift most of whom have a neonatal qualification.
- Will initiate cooling with support

There is a cash machine, shop, café, chapel and public toilets on the ground floor at the Main Entrance.
