
Description
- A district hospital covering Greenock, Gourock, Port Glasgow and surrounding areas. There is a small community midwife led birthing unit within the hospital, with 80-90 births a year.

- Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley
 
Staff
- 11 midwives with 2 on duty at any time. Staff are all NLS trained with some instructing via SMMDP.
 - There is a paediatrician present on the children’s ward (L North) 9-5 Monday to Friday who will assist with emergencies if requested, but does not formally cover the unit. Outside of this time there is emergency support available from anaesthetists and A&E.

Recommended, approximately 40 minutes from Glasgow via M8/ A8.
Local Access
The maternity unit is ward F North (i.e North wing, floor F). This is best accessed via the lifts through A&E, avoiding the busy main reception with its café etc. North wing is on the right when exiting the lifts.
